Blogging community can be defined as a group of people with the similar interest and topic grouping up together. Some people might think that, my blogs are created to express my feelings and are deemed as personal, why do I need to be in a blogging community? But things are certainly different if one aim to openly share their ideas with others and this is where blogging communities come into the scene (Ramnath, S, 2011). However, it is not that hard to create a blogging community through the internet. There are certain steps a blogger have to take into account to create a blogging community. The steps are as follow:
a) Reach out to professional bloggers
- Try to reach out to professional bloggers that are well established and have influence in the blogging world.
Eg: www.xiaxue.com
b) Respond to commenter
- Give your views and responds to the comments that are left on your blogs by other people. This is where one can improve themselves and make them better
c) Write posts in reactions to others
- If you read a bloggers post that you enjoyed, you may write another post to react towards the issue that was brought up
d) Create a local blogger meet up
- It is good to arrange meetings with other bloggers where you can interact with each and other. http://www.thetraveltart.com/what-is-a-blogging-community/
Referring back to blogging communities, there are three types of blogging communities (White, N 2006)
a) Single Blog/Blogger Centric Community
The blogs belongs to one person or an organization. For this blogging community, the owner or organization has control of the whole blog.
b) Central Connecting Topic Community
This form of blogging community often involves groups such as food bloggers, travel bloggers or political bloggers that have special interest on certain issues. The power and identity is distributed across the community.
c) Boundaried communities
This blogging community attracts its members to register and join the community and is given the chance to create a blog.
